John Teets was born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1956. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and achieved a B.A. degree in History in 1978. After school, he worked as an advertising copywriter for several small businesses before becoming promotions director for Greyhound Bus Lines in 1987. He held this position until his retirement in 2006.

Teets has been involved with many historical organizations over the years, including The National Museum of American History and The Ford Museum of American Art, where he served on the Board of Directors from 2004-to 2006.

In addition to his work with Greyhound, Teets is also a member of the Historical Society of Nashville and Davidson County and has written articles for the society’s newsletter.

John Teets died on September 3rd, 2013 at the age of 70 after battling brain cancer for several years.
